Firstly, thanks Rich for the idea! Now here we go into the exciting world of fonts!
NOTE: I didn't post the links to DaFont, or the download area for JustZipIt, because they were not approved by a moderator or admin. Sorry!
Finding a font:
We must find a font before we can install it, I recommend dafont.
Downloading a font:
With dafont, to download it you just click on the "Download PC / MAC OS X". The problem with this is, that they are in ZIP files, which makes them smaller in sized, but you need a program to "unzip" them. I use justzipit, but try searching the web for one.
Installing a font:
Once you unzip the file, put it some place where you know it is, like your documents. Then go to control panel, and you should see fonts, click on that if you don't see "file" on the top of it click "alt", then click "file" then "install new font", go where you put the font file, and install it.
Vista users..Can just right click on the font file (after they unzip it) and click install!
Using a new font in GIMP without restarting the program:
This is a trick that not many people know, and most people say you can't use a new font in GIMP without restarting it. But you can by doing this:
1: Go to the text tool
2: Click on the little "Aa" as if you were trying to change the font.
3: At the bottom-right of that, click box with "a b" in it.
4: In the new pop-up click the refresh button at the buttom.
